MCT:April 8, 2008Ella received an enchanting gift when she was a child. Ella has been enchanted to be constantly obedient to anyone?s command. Ella must keep this secret from her evil step family who would use this curse to threaten the land and harm the prince. A prince that is her friend and a friend she is falling in love with. Can Ella break the spell and save the land and the man she loves? Or has the curse caught up to her and her wicked step-family able to use this power to control her and take over the land.
Ella Enchanted is not as fantastic or as smart as Enchanted, but the movie does have some merits to stand on. Ella Enchanted is a good family movie. The movie plays the satire well and kids and fantasy fans will easily enjoy this film. The movie?s comedy and silliness is what really makes the movie work and shine. The direction is decent and the acting is solid. Some fans of the novel will be disappointed as always. Movies can never seem to gratify the fan boys and some people need to realize every page is one minute of film and certain things that worked well in the book, may not translate well on the screen. Ella Enchanted receives four enchantments out of five for being a good family film and a good satire film as well. -

Okay, so it's an amusing movie, very cliche and predictable but entertaining nonetheless. I just wish the ending had been a little less...gay. ^^;

I love this film, Anne Hathaway has a natural gift at making us believe in fairy tales.
