MCT:August 19, 2008This movie was very funny and yet a little a bit confusing. I just loved it how the interpruted all the different movies. Ghostbusters was the funniest!!

MCT:August 18, 2008As with most of Michel Gondry's work, the film forms itself around a mundane dreamscape. Whatever little victory of life there is in this endearing microcosm, it is celebrated. It's rare to find a movie that takes so much care of the things the world gives to us.

I love this movie!!!!...I don't know why, I just love it...is so inspirational for anyone who has ever dreamed of making movies. Yes, some of the actors were not great but they were OK, I guess.
Gotta love Jack Black for that Miss Daisy impression haha -

Ok, that's awesome, that's hilarious, not Shitlike hilarious, but hilarious in the right way. That's right, beleive it or not, an american one, wich had the same promotion design as any other on of them, but this one was actually not "empty". The Story was amazing!
This is not just a mountain of stupid events, even though there are some funny jokes, the whole concept is interesting. For exemple, they introduce us to this whole home movie thing, by telling us about Jazz history. Maybe it's just a film for Movie Geeks like me, but I think it's really something that everyone will appreciate. -

The plot was stupid in some parts, but overall, it was still a good movie. I loved the inspirational message of chasing after dreams despite the odds.

I must admit that when I see a movie has Jack Black in it, I just discard the idea of watching it... most of the time.
But I really admire Michel Gondry's work so I had to see this.
I just have to say, as someone who is persueing to be a director, I thought this movie was awesome. Super entertaining, though didn't like the end that much. -

I love Michel Gondry, but this film really doesn't live up to his others. It's got some great elements, and the characters + story is a lot of fun, however I have to admit that I feel like Hollywood kinda broke Michel's balls on this one as far as [artistic] freedom goes. But as a die-hard Gondry fan, and fan of entertaining films, this had a healthy medium of Michel's movie magic and mainstream fluff. Definitely worth seeing.

MCT:August 13, 2008It's one of those movies that's funnier when you talk about and think about it, but viewing it is a whole nother story. It drags and is flat out boring at times, and the "sweded" moments aren't as played up and funny as they should have been for the most part. I think Michel Gondry is a great director, but he should stay away from writing. His concepts are great, but his actual writing, not so much. He should let someone bring him a solid script, ala "Eternal Sunshine" so he can do what he does best - direct and deliver a solid film.

This movie was quite good though the best parts are when they are making the movies such as Ghostbusters and Robocop those parts were funny. Jack Black and Mos Def did work well together in the movie. I thought a bit of the story though just could of been better.

i expected more from this movie since its a Michel Gondry movie... director of some of my favorite movies, but this one is kinda too simple... too silly, it doesnt look like the kind of movie Gondry would be involved.. i dont know.
Itīs fun though... nothing spectacular but entertains. -
MCT:August 11, 2008I wanted to like this more. It was sort of sappy. It needed more oomph. I like Mos Def a lot. There were a few laugh-out-loud moments, but again, the sap/corny factor was just too high.

I must say that this movie is original and briliant..If all your movie on the store are erased..what would you do?maybe you'll give up and closed the store..But These two crazy buddy (Jack Black & Mos Def) are insane enough to make a remake of hollywood movies with their own way...Crazy idea but it's work...^^..Okay, the movie is non-sense but who doesn't know Michel Gondry? he's the one who can make a nonsense movie into a piece of art..Jack Black & Mos Def is great, they got the chemistry..eventhough Jack Black's act is stereotype but he's still funny..The music which is very catchy really gets me too...Overall, this independent movie is good enough to be on my "must watched list"

I went into this expecting to see little more than Jack Black frantically spoofing various scenes from famous movies while some ridiculous plot tries, in vein, to tie it all together. To be fair that is what I found, however I also found a movie that was not only fresh, fun and inventive; but also well-written, well-acted and ultimately heartwarming.

It's was said comedy movie but I think there are not much comedy scene.I think it's not worth seeing.
In the plot, Mos Def was looked after the movie borrowed shop by Danny,the boss of the shop. But Mos Def's friend Jack Black made terrible thing.
In the plot Jack Black want to sabotage the transformer and then he was maganetized. Thats why he destroyed the all the pictures from the tape.
Then the have to make the film like Ghostbuster, Rush Hour 2, Lion King... all the movie that the people want to borrow.

very.....
uplifting, funny, sweet and just basically good.
i mean its not all funny there are parts that look a little awkard or serious but overall good.
good cast, the main keep it funny. its original. worth seeing. i saw it on the planre and even with all the chaos i was still glued to it. nice ending too. -

an outstanding idea and the perfedct pair of actors but the second half of the movie is a little boring.any way i recommend it to every single one who is reading it and is film buff.it`s an experience avery cinema lover should have.

I like Mos Def, actually, and Jack Black was the same old Jack Black, but I liked the editing and how they dealt with these different movies. There was something quite cute about it all.

Nothing can beat Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but Gondry surely done a great original, fascinating, creative, fun, touching, inspiring and lot of qualities movie that finally, really touch my heart with inventive mind of Gondry and crazy ideas transported in his awesome surreal world direction. More assumed than Science of Sleep, as it goes it became a real feast for all senses. But we only have to be frank that we will never saw ESOTSM2 and simply appreciate all thoses great movies :-)
